The young singer RODZYNKA presents her own version of the popular Lemki song “Hamerytskyi Kray”.
At one time, the concept of “Hamerytsky Krai” was invented by emigrants who were forced to leave their native land for a better life abroad. On February 24, this “term” took on a slightly different meaning: millions of Ukrainians experienced for themselves what it was like to pack up and leave their native home in a matter of hours.
This song is special for RODZYNKA, as the singer has Lemki roots thanks to one of her great-grandfathers. Therefore, she decided to give a new, modern sound to this composition, which is currently more relevant than ever, but from now on not only for Lemkos, but also for all Ukrainians.
“My great-grandfather told me the story of his family, how they had to leave their native land. Unfortunately, history repeats itself, and not only in a positive way. Millions of Ukrainians are forced to stay abroad. And they miss their native home, but they know that they will definitely return to a free and united Ukraine,” said RODZYNKA.
The video clip was filmed in the colorful Carpathians, thereby emphasizing the iconicity and importance of this song.
“Hamerytsky krai” is the second composition of the young singer RODZYNKA. Her debut was the song “Beautiful”, which was based on the legendary poem “When I’m even gray…” by the Ukrainian poet and author Lina Kostenko. After the full-scale invasion of Russia on the territory of Ukraine, the young performer admits that singing became a certain form of meditation for her, which allowed her to stay in tune. In addition, she decided not to put her big dream in a distant box, but to start working on the musical front, creating her own songs.
