Shukhevych Museum Restored in Lviv After Russian Shelling

In Lviv, restoration work has commenced on the Lviv City Council museum of UPA General Roman Shukhevych. At the beginning of 2024, the museum was destroyed as a result of shelling.

The restoration project has received the necessary approvals and work is already underway on the demolished site. The city plans to complete the main construction works by 30 June, Roman Shukhevych’s birthday.

“Russia tried to erase this place from the map. But we are restoring it,” — Yevhen Boyko, Manager of Affairs of Lviv City Council

The restoration entails several phases, including dismantling, conservation, and reconstruction. The area will also be equipped with surfaces, greenery, and lighting.

The community is actively participating in financing, with over 3 million hryvnias raised for the setting up of the exhibition. This is the first museum restoration project amidst Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
