Sokalshchyna’s cultural heritage to be showcased at Lviv Philharmonic on June 13

On June 13, 2025, the Myroslav Skoryk Lviv National Philharmonic will host a special cultural event titled “Kultura diE” (Culture Acts), spotlighting the artistic and traditional heritage of the Sheptytskyi district, especially the Sokalshchyna region.

Admission is free, welcoming everyone to immerse themselves in authentic folk culture and living traditions.

Starting at 4:00 PM, the Philharmonic’s foyer will feature a vibrant exhibition of traditional folk art, introducing visitors to the crafts and customs of the region. Highlights include:

  • finely crafted corn-husk items,
  • handmade pottery in the style of Hutsul ceramics,
  • uniquely decorated Sokal-style pysanky with ancient patterns,
  • traditional embroidered shirts with sacred motifs of Sokalshchyna,
  • symbolic motanka dolls, representing protection and family heritage.

At 5:00 PM, a grand artistic concert will begin. The program will blend folk songs, dances, and instrumental performances that reflect the spirit and soul of the Sokal region.

A highlight of the evening will be a traditional embroidery fashion walk, showcasing genuine Sokal-style vyshyvankas. These embroidered garments are not only beautiful clothing pieces but also a symbolic language filled with ancestral codes, motifs of land, kinship, and love. Each stitch carries a story and a cultural message passed down through generations.

“Kultura diE” is more than a concert or exhibit — it is a living dialogue between generations and a journey into the depths of Ukrainian identity. It’s a proud display of cultural treasures we must preserve and cherish.

Journalists, cultural critics, and all lovers of Ukrainian heritage are warmly invited to attend and witness the heartbeat of Sokalshchyna come alive in the heart of Lviv.
