On 12-13 October, Lviv will host the Alarm graffiti festival. The event will bring together artists from all over Ukraine who will create more than 70 drawings on several hundred metres of different surfaces.
The graffiti festival will take place on the territory of the former Svitanok factory (49 Promyslova Street).
The first Alarm festival took place in 2015 in Uzhhorod. Since then, this event has been held in different cities of our country (Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Uzhhorod, Lutsk, Odesa, Slavske, Dnipro).
Over the years, Alarm has become the main graffiti event of the year without exaggeration. The festival gathers people from different parts of the country in one place to communicate and share experiences and opinions. It is a place to meet friends and make new acquaintances, a place to spend time offline doing what you love and to showcase your best styles and create new compositions.
The full-scale war has shown that graffiti can be a socially useful activity:
In all major cities, artists are still camouflaging their equipment for the front line;
repeated graffiti actions on the walls of buildings on the theme of war, which is a good tool for large-scale coverage and attracting public attention;
author’s murals, which are an important cultural communication both in our country and abroad.
“After 24 February, the festival took a break, because we all needed time to learn how to live in the new terrible realities of today. Now we understand that this war will last for a long time, and we must be able to continue our business in such conditions.
As part of the festival, we are launching a fundraiser for our colleague who has changed aerosol for weapons and is defending our country. We believe that our community will unite and we will be able to raise enough funds for urgent needs,” the organisers say.
Traditionally, the festival is supported by the Lviv City Council and the NGO Institute of Public Initiatives. The territory for creativity is provided by the Real Estate Corporation.
