For four years, Drohobych has hosted the “Gazdynia Fest” – a festival celebrating Galician traditions. Held during the Christmas and New Year holidays, it brings together the best local homemakers who showcase traditional recipes and creative culinary creations.
Creating a Unique Culinary Book
Inspired by the festival, a project was launched to compile a collection of recipes passed down through generations. After extensive work, the book “Authentic Bratrura” was published, becoming a culinary treasure for the Drohobych community.
The book features:
- Authentic recipes for Christmas dishes and baked goods.
- Award-winning recipes from festival participants.
- Photographs from the festival, capturing the festive spirit.
A Book of Tradition and Culture
The festival’s founder and head of the Department of Culture and Arts, Lesia Tatarska, highlighted:
“This book isn’t just about dishes; it’s about preserving the culture of the Boyko and Lemko regions. It’s a historical record of those who shape modern culture.”
The book also includes a foreword by renowned Ukrainian actress Irma Vitovska-Vantsa, who supported the initiative.
Presentation and Future Plans
The “Authentic Bratrura” book was officially presented during the fourth “Gazdynia Fest.” Soon, it will be available in libraries across Drohobych and will serve as a wonderful souvenir for city guests and tourists, combining culinary traditions with the rich history of the region.
