The space will be open daily from 15:00 to 18:00.
On 17 October, at 17:00, the Lviv National Philharmonic opens an exhibition space called PhilArt in the Foyer.
The space will be open daily from 15:00 to 18:00, and unique projects are planned for this location in the future. Previously, exhibitions were not held at the Philharmonic on a regular basis, and they could not be viewed at any other time except during evening concerts.
Its first long-awaited event will be the opening of a large-scale international watercolour exhibition as part of the My Heart Is With You project. The first stage is a presentation of works by world-renowned watercolourists from around the world, followed by an auction in December 2024, with proceeds going to support those affected by the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The exhibition features the works of 29 watercolourists from 18 countries – Belgium, Canada, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, France, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Sweden, Bulgaria, Moldova, Albania, Italy, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, France and the Czech Republic. The artists, whose paintings will be presented at the Lviv Philharmonic, publicly declare their support for Ukrainians and are concerned about the fate of those who suffered from the terrible consequences of the war.
The ideological impetus for the organisation of this international event was the publication of the work “Do they know it’s Christmas?” by Claude Bergmans from Belgium. The artist sent this work to Lviv in the spring of 2024 with a request to donate it and several of his other works to raise funds for Ukrainians, particularly children. The exhibition also features works by Atanur Dogan, Carsten Wieland, Stanislav Przewlotski, Serhiy Lysyi, and others.
“Mr Bergmans sent 18 of his works and those of his wife, who is also a well-known watercolourist. Then I turned not only to our international watercolour community, but also wrote privately to friends I met in Germany, the Czech Republic, and China… These artists did not refuse, and within a few months I was already receiving their works by mail,” says Halyna Otrich, the author of the project idea.
The event, which brought together a group of artists to provide targeted assistance to people in need, will be held with the support of NGOs and the charity fund “With an Angel on My Shoulder”, as well as in partnership with the NGO “St. George”, the company “ProArt Frame Gallery”, “Express TV” and the NGO “Educational Resource Centre”. The initiator of the event is Halyna Otchych, Ambassador of the World Academy of Arts (France), President of the Ukrainian branch of IWS Ukraine and member of the Advisory Committee of the IWS Globe Art Network. The exhibition is curated by Zoriana Mirus.
