Exhibition ‘Art Resistance’ at Lviv Regional Council

An exhibition titled ‘Art Resistance: Artists on the Frontline’, detailing the war in Ukraine, has been opened at the Lviv Regional Council.

The exhibition features works of artists who are directly defending the country. Among them are Serhiy Herasymenko, Serhiy Smetankin, Volodymyr Vakulenko, and others. ‘This national cultural and artistic project of a patriotic direction was initiated in February this year by the National Union of Artists of Ukraine,’ said the project curator Olena Kotlyar.

The opening was attended by serviceman and artist Serhiy Burbelo. His exhibition on Crimea titled ‘Qirim’ will open on May 18. Also present was Taras Brynskyi, brother of the late artist Ostap Brynskyi.

The Head of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Kostiantyn Cherniavskyi, expressed gratitude for the assistance in organizing the exhibition. ‘The paintings created under enemy shelling are special,’ noted Yaroslav Haschak.

At the exhibition, visitors can contribute to raising funds for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. ‘It is an honor for us to assist the warriors who serve the Ukrainian idea and the Ukrainian nation,’ said Oreslava Khomyk.
