An anniversary exhibition of Levko Skop opened in Lviv Palace of Arts

The exhibition dedicated to the 210th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth and on the occasion of the artist’s 70th birthday will run until the end of March.

An exhibition dedicated to the 210th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth and the artist’s 70th birthday is on display at the Lviv Palace of Arts.

“They say that in order to destroy a nation, you have to destroy its culture. We are now at a historical crossroads, so it’s time to preserve and record our culture, and then our people will not be defeated,” emphasized Levko’s brother, artist Orest Skop.

The exhibition of the Ukrainian art critic will be open at the Lviv Palace of Arts until the end of March, daily from 11:00 to 17:00, except Mondays.

According to the Palace of Arts, the opening of the exhibition gathered a full house of Mr. Skop’s friends, family, colleagues and art lovers, which is the best proof of his great talent and contribution to the art world.

“Levko Skop is not just an artist and icon painter, he has been actively volunteering since 2014. He paints paintings and takes them to the frontline to visit soldiers. He also puts his works up for auction and transfers the money to the needs of seriously ill soldiers. After the start of Russia’s full-scale aggression, Lev Skop began to paint even more and send icons to Ukraine’s defenders,” the organizers note.

At the same time, an exhibition of graphics by Oleksiy Kosatyi “The Line of Fire. Frontline Sketches” by Oleksiy Kosatyi, who worked as a leading designer of the Lviv Palace of Arts before the war and is now an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine defending Ukraine at the front.

“This event is very important for us. Levko’s paintings and icons are with many soldiers on the front line, and Oleksiy is on the front line defending our independence. It is very symbolic,” said Levko Vankovych, head of the Lviv Palace of Arts.

The exhibition at the Lviv Palace of Arts will be open daily from 11:00 to 17:00, except Mondays, until the end of March.
