On Sunday, 7 June, Lviv will host the ninth charity bike ride “Pedalling so they can live” organised by the Zaporyka foundation. As is tradition, the event’s ambassador, singer Arsen Mirzoyan, will join the ride. Several bus routes will be temporarily altered due to the bike ride.
The aim of the initiative is to raise 2 million hryvnias for a modern ultrasound diagnostic system for young cancer patients at the Clinical Centre of Paediatric Medicine in Lviv, in particular for children undergoing bone marrow transplants. The equipment will help doctors assess children’s condition more quickly and accurately at different stages of treatment.
The starting point for the bike ride is the square in front of the Opera House. Participant registration will begin at 13:00, with the column scheduled to set off at 14:30.
The organisers have published the timetable for the event:
- 13:00 – participant registration (square in front of the Opera House);
- 14:00 – warm-up;
- 14:15 – a minute’s silence and the national anthem;
- 14:20 – welcome speech;
- 14:30 – start of the column;
- 15:30 – finish.
Due to the bike ride, from 12:50 to 15:30 the public transport routes in Lviv will be adjusted. Bus routes Nos. 9, 21 and 48 will operate differently.
- Bus No. 9: from the Bus Station, buses will run via Doroshenka St – Svobody Ave – Halytska Sq – Mytna Sq – Pidvalna St – I. Honty St – Chornovola Ave, then continue along the existing route. In the opposite direction, towards the Bus Station, the route will remain unchanged.
- Bus No. 21: from the Tri Slony shopping centre, buses will run via Doroshenka St – Svobody Ave – Halytska Sq – Mytna Sq – Pidvalna St – I. Honty St – Chornovola Ave, then continue along the usual route. The route towards the Tri Slony shopping centre will not change.
- Bus No. 48: from Ryashivska St, buses will run via Doroshenka St – Svobody Ave – Halytska Sq – Mytna Sq – Pidvalna St – I. Honty St – Chornovola Ave, after which they will continue along the main route. The route towards Ryashivska St will remain unchanged.
