In Lviv, on Halytska Square near the monument to King Danylo, a ceremonial event was held to mark Ukrainian Statehood Day. Representatives of the authorities, the clergy and city residents took part in the event.
The commemoration began with a minute of silence in honour of the fallen Defenders of Ukraine, both men and women. After this, the State Anthem of Ukraine was performed, and the clergy together with the participants prayed for Ukraine and its soldiers.
A themed musical programme was prepared for those present. Through musical works and historical accounts, the organisers recalled the key stages of Ukrainian state-building — from the times of Kyivan Rus to the modern struggle for independence.
Speakers stressed that Ukrainian statehood has a history spanning more than a thousand years, shaped by different generations — from princes and Cossacks to dissidents and millions of citizens, and that today this cause is being continued by the service personnel who are defending the country.
