In Lviv, the play “MAMY” was staged for parents of fallen defenders

In Lviv, a performance of the play “МАМИ́” based on short stories by writer Mariia Matios took place. The production was presented by the team of the Rivne Regional Academic Music and Drama Theatre, for whom Lviv has already become the 11th regional centre of Ukraine within this project.

According to the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, around 700 parents who had lost relatives in the war came to the performance in the city. In total, more than 5,000 fathers and mothers of Ukrainian soldiers have already seen the play in various cities.

A separate strand of the initiative is the “Letters of Remembrance”. Parents are invited to record their memories of their fallen defender: what this person was like, what they loved, what they dreamed of. Several hundred such stories have already been collected, which are planned to be preserved in an electronic and printed Book of Remembrance.

“I thank the team of the Rivne Regional Academic Music and Drama Theatre led by Volodymyr Petriv and writer Mariia Matios for this initiative and the opportunity to speak about loss through art. My deepest respect to all mothers, fathers, wives, children and relatives who have lost their loved ones in this war. Eternal memory to all the fallen” — Maksym Kozytskyi
