On 1 October an interactive lecture and exhibition will be held in Lviv to commemorate Ukrainian authors and artists who have been killed. The event is part of the exhibition project “Wall of Remembrance” by the initiative “Unfinished”.
The event will take place in “Horikhovyi Hai” near the “Horikhovyi” cinema centre at 14A Volodymyra Velykoho Street. The lecture will run from 12:00 to 13:20. School pupils and all interested visitors are invited to take part, as the initiative aims to promote remembrance practices among children and young people.
The “Unfinished” project is dedicated to literary figures who were killed as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The “Wall of Remembrance” exhibition is a joint initiative of the Ukrainian Book Institute, “Cultural Forces of Ukraine” and the OVO literary community. It opened on 16 August as part of the “Book Square” Book Exchange in Franko Park, with the opening accompanied by the performance “Echo” by poet and veteran Olena Herasym’iuk and poet and veteran Pavlo Matiusha.
In September the installation was on display in Rynok Square, and now elements of the exhibition are being shown in turn in different districts of the city, this time in “Horikhovyi Hai”. The “Wall of Remembrance” structure has two parts: on one, visitors can leave sticky notes with the names of cultural figures who have been killed, and on the other there are biographical notes about writers who lived and worked in Lviv.
The exhibition is organised and initiated by the Lviv Municipal Library in cooperation with the public organisation “Ukrainian Association of Cultural Experts – Lviv” and the office of “Lviv – City of Literature of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network”, with the support of the Lviv City Council.
