On the last day of the European Mobility Week in Lviv, an excursion was held by the “Electron” electric bus along “trolleybus routes of Lviv, which you will not find on maps.”
The autumn journey ran from the first trolleybus depot on Horodotskaya Street (now – the carriage repair workshops of Lviv Electrotrans LLP) through fragments of the very first trolleybus route – from Dvirtseva Square to the monument to Adam Mickiewicz. And trolleybus route No. 1 – along the streets of Kostomarov – Stryiska – Stusa – Heroiv Krut – Panas Myrny – Chmola – which existed until September 1, 2008.
“Actually, the Lviv trolleybus might not be 70 years old, but more than a hundred years old. After all, even before the First World War, back in 1909, there was talk of launching an “omnibus” – the then analog of a trolleybus. However, the leaders refused such an idea and slowed down the development of trolleybus traffic for 43 years,” says Oleksandr Aristarkhov, a researcher at the Lviv Historical Museum.
It was not by chance that the E191 “Electron” was chosen for the excursion, because it is the first electric bus that became operational in Ukraine. It started running in 2016 on the trolley line connecting the airport and the University. Currently, the electric bus operates on trolleybus route No. 22. During the martial law, “Electron” E191 was used for morning and evening “delivery” of trolleybus depot drivers to save fuel. It reaches a full charge in 6-8 hours, which is enough for approximately 200 km of mileage.
As a reminder, the events within the framework of the European Mobility Week in Lviv are free, but the organizers called for charitable contributions to purchase cars for the Armed Forces.
“In order to increase the mobility of our indomitable soldiers from the Armed Forces, we urge you to make charitable contributions and participate in the purchase of the Mamai buggy.” Every hryvnia is important”, – urged Lviv Electrotrans LLP.
