A call for applications has opened in Lviv for the training course “Culture without Barriers 2.0”, which aims to make cultural services more accessible for people with hearing impairments. You can register to take part until 18 September.
The programme is aimed at employees of cultural institutions and municipal establishments in Lviv. Course participants will acquire basic sign language skills and practical tools for everyday communication with people with hearing impairments.
The training will start on 7 October and will take place in an intensive format: 9 sessions are planned, each lasting 5 hours, once a week. Participation in the course is free of charge; to enrol, you need to fill in an online form. Applications can be submitted up to and including 18 September.
The sessions will be held in Lviv, at the premises of the Lviv Municipal Library at 2A Muliarska Street.
The initiative is being implemented by the public organisation “Opportunities for Everyone” in partnership with, and at the initiative of, the Lviv Municipal Library. The course is being run as part of the UNESCO project “Fostering Social Cohesion and Community Recovery through Creative Industries, Cultural Exchanges and Support to the Literature Sector in Ukraine”, funded by the Government of Flanders.
The Lviv Municipal Library is a network of public libraries of the Lviv City Territorial Community, which includes 49 branch libraries, among them the Lesia Ukrainka Central City Library and the Central Children’s Library. They are located in Lviv, Vynnyky, Dubliany, Briukhovychi, Rudne, as well as in the villages of Malekhiv, Velyki Hrybovychi, Hriada, Zarudtsi, Zashkiv, Pidbirtsi, Lysynychi and Riasne-Ruske.
The library’s priorities include developing reading practices, promoting Ukrainian culture and history, and supporting an open civil society. The institutions in the network offer a wide range of services for children and adults in the fields of education, culture and leisure: from training courses and lecture programmes to film screenings, workshops, exhibitions and participatory practices. The collection of the Lviv Municipal Library comprises around one million items of literature in various genres, including foreign-language publications.
