An exhibition dedicated to the works of Taras Shevchenko is currently ongoing in Lviv.
Since February 20, the exhibition project “He: Taras Shevchenko. The Artist” has been running at Zenyk Art Gallery, organized in collaboration with the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko. The exhibition features over 58 paintings and graphic works by Shevchenko — from early academic works to the period of his exile. The project reveals Shevchenko as a world-class artist, etching academician, and innovator in social graphics.
The opening was attended by regional government officials, members of the cultural community, and invited guests, including Viktor Yushchenko. “Such projects are more than just exhibitions. They are the return of the true Shevchenko without Soviet overlays. It’s about overcoming decades of hostile myths and attempts by the Russia to diminish or appropriate our culture. By reminding the world and ourselves of the true Shevchenko, we reclaim our own memory, meanings, and names. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the realization of this large-scale project. I invite you to view Shevchenko’s works until June 20”, said Yuriy Kholod, acting head of the Lviv Regional Council.
The exhibition will run until June 20 at 7 Shota Rustaveli Street.
