In Lviv, a photo exhibition by serviceman Heorhii Suturін opened at the Hrushevskyi Museum

At the municipal institution of the Lviv Regional Council “State Memorial Museum of Mykhailo Hrushevskyi in Lviv”, a photo exhibition entitled “Where Life Begins…” by Captain Heorhii Suturін has opened. The display consists of photographs taken by the serviceman during his deployment.

In 2024–2025, Heorhii Suturін served in the Vovchansk sector. The daily reality of shelling, blast injuries and the loss of comrades did not stop him from continuing to create and capture moments that remind us of the power of life even in a combat zone.

The photographs show the details of everyday life at the front and nature which, despite the destruction, remains a symbol of renewal. These are the first flowers among shattered roads, forest landscapes, evening skies, as well as animals that brought the servicemen a sense of warmth and support.

“The photographs show a first flower in the middle of a ruined road, a quiet forest and the evening sky, animals that became a source of warmth for the soldiers, sunflowers and poppies under a sky torn by gunfire. Suturін’s photographs are a gaze through the smoke towards the light. A story about the resilience of nature, human support and the ability, even amid destruction, to notice what is beautiful,” the museum comments.

The photo exhibition at the Mykhailo Hrushevskyi Museum in Lviv will be on view for three weeks from the day it opens.
