The world premiere of a work written to the sounds of explosions in Kyiv will take place in Lviv

On Sunday, April 17, at 19:00 in the Lviv Organ Hall, a large-scale premiere of Lacrimosa by the famous Ukrainian composer Oleksandr Shchetynsky will take place. The work will be performed by musicians of the Luhansk Regional Philharmonic, who were evacuated to Lviv, and soloist of the organ hall Svitlana Pozdnysheva under the trampoline of Ivan Ostapovich.

Oleksandr Shchetynsky is a Ukrainian composer, winner of seven international composition competitions. He has more than 150 works of various genres and ensembles – operas, symphonic works, concerts, chamber and solo compositions, music for movies. His works are performed in Europe and America by world-famous bands.

Lacrimosa is a unique work created in the first weeks of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Composer Oleksandr Shchetynskyi lives in Kyiv, so he composed this music to the sounds of explosions and bullets. The composer notes: “There were periodic shelling, explosions, fortunately not very close… I decided that, in spite of everything, we should stay. Everyone must now do what he is capable of, fulfill his life mission. ”

The work was written for six instruments: oboe, horn, two trombones, violin and organ. “I was immediately attracted by this composition with its unusualness. You can build musical ideas around it, ”adds the author.
