At the Sheptytsky Centre of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, a photo exhibition entitled “Proyav” by serviceman of the 103rd Separate Territorial Defence Brigade Andriy “Petruccio” Petruk has opened. The exhibition has been timed to coincide with Territorial Defence Day and will run until 5 December.
The exhibition presents photographs taken by Andriy Petruk during his military service: between combat missions, on training grounds, at positions and on the roads. The author emphasises that the shooting was done not through the eyes of a civilian photographer, but directly by a soldier during his daily service.
“War is an extremely concentrated state of life. In it, death and laughter, fear and love, destruction and beauty, exhaustion and elation exist side by side. Sometimes they all appear in a single frame,” the author notes.
Andriy Petruk comes from Nadvirna. He studied Stage Arts at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and worked as an actor at the Les Kurbas Theatre in Lviv and at the Maria Zankovetska National Theatre in Lviv.
He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 18 March 2022. As part of the 103rd Separate Territorial Defence Brigade, he took part in the Kharkiv counter-offensive, the defence of the Kupiansk area, the offensive operation in the Kursk region and the defence of the Sumy region. Since 2024, he has been serving in the communications unit of this brigade.
For his service, Andriy Petruk has been awarded the honorary breast badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Golden Cross”, the decoration of the Commander of the Territorial Defence Forces “Star of the Territorial Defence Forces”, as well as the breast badge of the 103rd Brigade “Honour and Fatherland”.
The opening of the “Proyav” exhibition was attended by the Director of the Sheptytsky Centre and serviceman of the 103rd Territorial Defence Brigade, Oleh Yaskiv; a serviceman of the brigade, Hero of Ukraine Lyubomyr Mikalo; and Merited Artist of Ukraine and actor of the Maria Zankovetska Theatre, Andriy Snitsarchuk.
