Exhibition in Lviv marks 25th anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s visit

At the municipal institution of the Lviv Regional Council, the “Lviv Museum of the History of Religion”, the exhibition “Greetings to you, Ukraine” has opened, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s historic visit to Ukraine.

The exhibition is intended to remind Lviv residents and visitors to the city of the days of the Holy Father’s stay in Kyiv and Lviv, as well as to show the significance of this event for contemporary Ukrainian society.

In preparing the exhibition, archival materials from the museum’s collection and a large number of photographs were used. Among the photographers are Pope John Paul II’s personal photographer Arturo Mari, as well as Lviv photographers Vasyl Pylypyuk and Bohdan Salagai. The photographs are complemented by excerpts from the speeches and sermons of Saint John Paul II delivered during his apostolic visit to Ukraine.

The exhibition “Greetings to you, Ukraine” will run until 26 July. It can be visited at the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion at: Lviv, 1 Muzeina Street.
