The Oleksa Novakivskyi Art and Memorial Museum in Lviv has opened the exhibition project “Sonia Delaunay – The Simultaneous World”, dedicated to one of the leading figures of the European avant-garde of the 20th century and her connection with Ukraine. The project was implemented by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Odesa and the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv.
The exhibition includes original works by Sonia Delaunay, graphic pieces, textiles, as well as works by contemporary Odesa artists. The display is complemented by a film and immersive mapping, allowing visitors to delve more deeply into the artist’s simultaneous world.
At the opening, Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Ivan Sobko stressed the importance of supporting culture even in times of war.
“Despite the war, we must remain strong and support culture and art. They must stay alive, develop and be accessible to people. It is important not only to gain a deeper understanding of our own cultural heritage, but also to promote Ukrainian art as widely as possible, to present it to the world and to pass this love of culture on to future generations,” stressed Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Ivan Sobko.
The exhibition “Sonia Delaunay – The Simultaneous World” will run until 18 October 2026. It can be visited at: 11 Lystopadovoho Chynu Street, Lviv.
