In Lviv, experts restored another historic wooden door in a building on the street. I.Franka, 144. The work was carried out within the framework of the city’s co-financing program for the restoration of valuable elements in historic buildings. This is the 14th gate that was restored in the city this year.
“These oak doors were in poor condition and required a whole range of work. We leveled their construction and cleaned off a large number of layers of old paint. So that the natural structure of the wood could be seen, we did not paint the door – we only tinted it and covered it with waterproof varnish,” said master restorer Ihor Vardzal.
“The residents of this entrance have proven themselves as caring and active citizens of the city who appreciate the house in which they live. This is the second authentic door that, in cooperation with the residents, was restored in this entrance: restorers recently restored the fan door here, which was also in a bad condition,” said Pavlo Bogajchyk, director of the “Heritage Bureau” LKP.
The cost of restoration works amounted to UAH 53,300. Of this amount, UAH 37,310 was paid by the German Eberghard Schöck Foundation, and the rest by residents
As a reminder, in 2022, 29 gates were restored in the historical part of the city, in cooperation with residents. According to the Co-financing Program for Restoration of Valuable Elements in Historic Buildings, when restoring gates, residents pay only 30% of the total cost of the work.
You can find out how to become a participant of the Program on the website of the Heritage Bureau in the Lvivians/Co-financing tab. A new set of applications is planned for September 2023.
