In Lviv, a famous French artist taught engraving techniques to children

The famous French artist Olivia Passworddy, who works in the engraving technique, taught the little Lviv residents to create in a special style. She came to Lviv for the first time to conduct a master class on engraving techniques for orphans and children deprived of parental care.

Olivia Passworddy lives in Cannes and travels the world, teaching children from vulnerable categories – orphans and children deprived of parental care – a special art style – engraving. She came to Lviv for the first time and with the idea of holding a master class on engraving techniques for orphans and children deprived of parental care. And later, she plans to hold the same master class for children in her native Cannes – to compare children’s dreams in both cities: in the place where there is war and in a peaceful town by the sea.

“I am doing this project so that the voice of Ukrainian children can be heard in my works. So that your words can be heard, understood, felt, and that they remain with the passage of time far beyond the borders of this war. This joint contact between children in Lviv and Cannes is an opportunity to create an art project with a deep meaning, which will reflect our difficult times, and would allow us to hear the words of Ukrainian children who live through these terrible events,” says Olivia.

The artist taught engraving to girls from the Children’s Support Center at the Lyceum of Education of the Lviv City Council. The master class was held at the Youth Center named after St. Ivan Bosco.

“It is very interesting. I have never painted like this. It’s both simple and difficult, but I liked it so much,” says 8-year-old Veronika, one of the participants of the master class.

Olivia plans to combine the works of children from Lviv and Cannes into a joint exhibition and exhibit it in one of the local municipal schools.

“I can already see the world of your children. War affects them. In these works there is a lot of patriotism, a lot of faith in victory and a lot of such childhood dreams, despite everything. And it is so joyful and sad at the same time that Ukrainian children have to experience this,” says Olivia.

Also, based on children’s works, the artist will create a mural, the key theme of which will be the childhood of children in Europe.
