In Lviv, the memory of Olha Basarab was honored on the 102nd anniversary of her death.
Today, February 12th, remembrance events took place at the Yaniv Cemetery in Lviv to mark the anniversary of Olha Basarab’s death. Attendees laid flowers and candles at her grave. Afterward, they jointly performed the National Anthem of Ukraine, followed by a prayer and a public assembly.
“In Ukrainian history, there were and are many truly heroic people. Despite the fear of death, they give everything for the sake of freedom, even their own lives. These are truly heroic deeds. Olha Basarab was one of them — brave and uncompromising in everything related to the Ukrainian state. Today, we understand the price of independence even more and take even greater pride in each and every person who has defended and continues to defend Ukraine,” stated Yura Gorun, Director of the Department of Communications and Internal Policy of the Regional State Administration.
The initiators of the event were the Lviv Regional Organization “Society of Ukrainian Women named after Olha Basarab” with the support of the Department of Communications and Internal Policy of the Lviv Regional State Administration. The memory of those who gave their lives for Ukraine is not just history. It is our responsibility to the future.
