At the Boykivshchyna Historical and Ethnographic Museum, a municipal institution of the Lviv Regional Council, work is under way to digitise museum objects as part of the project to re-display the section “Boyko Attire” within the exhibition “Boykos: Codes of Identity”.
Museum specialists are digitally recording examples of traditional Boyko clothing, embroidery, ritual towels, woven items and other exhibits that form an important part of the cultural heritage of Boykivshchyna. The project “Re-display of the section ‘Boyko Attire’ within the exhibition ‘Boykos: Codes of Identity’ as a contemporary inclusive space with interactive content” is being implemented with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
The museum emphasises that creating digital copies opens up additional opportunities for researching, promoting and preserving the collection. The digitised materials are to be integrated into the renewed museum space and interactive elements, so that visitors can examine in detail the unique features of traditional dress and decorative art.
At the same time, the institution is preparing the premises for the re-display, selecting materials and museum objects for the updated galleries. The aim of the project is to create a modern, accessible and inclusive space for visitors of all ages, combining authentic objects with the latest technologies.
The museum stresses that digitisation will help preserve Boyko heritage more securely for future generations and make it more accessible to a wider audience.
