
On 27–28 August, the village of Nagujevychi and the city of Drohobych will host ceremonial events to mark the 170th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Franko. The programme will bring together commemorative, cultural, artistic and charitable events under the slogan “Franko unites”.
The organiser is the municipal institution of the Lviv Regional Council “Administration of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve ‘Nagujevychi’” with the support of the Lviv Regional Council and partners.
On 27 August, the main events will take place on the grounds of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Nagujevychi” near the monument to the writer (village of Nagujevychi, 15 Ivana Franka Street). From 12:00 to 12:40, a memorial service in remembrance of Ivan Franko will be held before the icon of Saint Nicholas from Nagujevychi dating from the 18th century.
From 12:40 to 13:00, greetings will be delivered by members of the Franko family, guests and organisers, and from 13:00 to 13:15 participants will lay flowers at the monument to Ivan Franko.
From 13:15 to 13:45, there will be the unveiling of a tactile bronze mini-sculpture of Franko’s parental homestead. The piece will be supplemented with Braille and audio description to make the museum space more accessible for blind and partially sighted visitors. The sculpture is by Vasyl Odrekhivskyi, sculptor and Candidate of Art Studies.
From 13:45 to 14:00, a commemorative stamp and envelope dedicated to the 170th anniversary of Ivan Franko will be presented and officially cancelled. The commemorative philatelic project will be presented by “Kozatska Poshta”, founded by Lviv artist, traveller and publisher Andrii Pyliukh.
Between 14:00 and 14:30, there will be a presentation of the museum guidebook to the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Nagujevychi”.
At 18:00 in Drohobych, on Ivan Franko Square near the monument to the writer and the Ivan Franko People’s House (20 Ivana Franka Street, Drohobych, Lviv Region), the 10th solemn award ceremony for the laureate of the Ivan Franko International Prize will take place.
On 28 August from 12:00 to 21:30, the 10th EthnoFest in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be held at the Franko homestead in Nagujevychi. The festival venue is the grounds of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Nagujevychi” near the monument to the writer (village of Nagujevychi, 15 Ivana Franka Street). The event will be held under the slogan “We are organising a jubilee course of Franko-therapy – together!”.
On the grounds of the museum-homestead, craftspeople and re-enactors will be working, demonstrating traditional crafts. Visitors will be able to take part in workshops in various types of folk art, as well as visit exhibition, book, museum and photo zones, children’s areas and food stalls.
During the ethno-festival, there will be a fundraising campaign in support of wounded service personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their families, as well as the families of those killed.
