Commemoration of Ihor Bilozir in Radekhiv

On March 30, 2025, a series of festive and significant events took place in Radekhiv to honor the memory of the illustrious son of the Radekhiv region, People’s Artist of Ukraine, composer Ihor Bilozir.

Opening of the Exhibition in the Local History Museum

An exhibition of personal belongings of our fellow countryman was opened in the local history museum of Radekhiv. The museum exhibition was provided to the people of Radekhiv by the Ihor Bilozir Charitable Foundation. Guests attended the opening of the exhibition, including the head of the Ihor Bilozir Charitable Foundation, Honored Cultural Worker of Ukraine, Vatrivchanin Yuriy Kedrynsky with his wife Nataliya, People’s Artist of Ukraine, Vatrivchanin Ostap Stakhiv, head of the Lviv regional organization VUT «Prosvita» named after T. Shevchenko Yaroslav Pitko. Representatives of the Radekhiv City Council, regional deputy Mr. Leonid Tsybula, Honored Education Worker of Ukraine Yuriy Sukhar, classmates, local historians, public activists, representatives of artistic educational institutions of Radekhiv, public library, TRC «Radekhiv», the People’s House of the city, in the cozy space of the museum, had the opportunity to dive into the whirl of life trials and creative successes of the unforgettable maestro Ihor Bilozir. The exhibition was prepared, and a tour was conducted by the museum director Olena Yakymyshyn. Accompanied by a bandura, several songs from the «Vatra» repertoire were performed by People’s Artist of Ukraine O. Stakhiv.

The exhibition of the maestro’s personal items is demonstrated for the first time. The exhibition features unique materials, manuscripts, and photographs. Museum guests will have a unique opportunity to familiarize themselves with the exhibition. The exhibition will be open from April 1 according to the museum’s operating schedule.

Concert and Other Events

Afterward, there was a spectacular concert at the Radekhiv School of Arts named after Metropolitan A. Sheptytsky, the awarding of winners of the 24th Festival-Competition «Mother’s Chamber», an exhibition of fine and applied arts by the school’s students and a personal exhibition of scaled models by Mykhailo Tymruk. Guests were genuinely impressed by what they heard and saw.

The city mayor Stepan Kohanchuk, representatives of the Radekhiv City Council, cultural workers of the community, and guests visited the graves of Ihor Bilozir’s parents — Yosyp Dmytrovych and Maria Ivanivna Bilozir, and honored their memory with a prayer and laying flowers.
