Memorial Square to a Hero Father to Open in Stryi

In Stryi, at 11A Kossaka Street, next to the Stryi District Police Department, the Memorial Square to a Hero Father will be opened. The ceremonial event is scheduled for Sunday, 21 June, at 12:00.

The new square is conceived as a symbol of respect and gratitude to the defenders of Ukraine who gave their lives for the country and will never again be able to embrace their children. The space is intended to become a place of quiet remembrance for the families of fallen soldiers and for the whole community.

During the opening, the families of the fallen will have the opportunity to place in the square a “Bird of Remembrance” in honour of their father who did not return from the war. In this way, the organisers aim to create a personal symbol for each hero.

The initiative to create the Memorial Square came from the son of a fallen defender of Ukraine, Vladyslav Sheremeta. He proposed arranging a special place in the city where the memory of fathers who are heroes would live on in the hearts of their children, their families and the community.
