In the UNBROKEN center, soldiers created paintings to be presented in London

Paintings by Ukrainian defenders who are undergoing treatment and recovery at the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center will be presented at a charity exhibition in London. These paintings were created by the military the day before during an art therapy workshop led by well-known Ukrainian artists.

The master class was part of the cultural and artistic project Rhythms of the Ukrainian Avant-Garde and featured 18 paintings by contemporary artists from Kyiv, Lviv, and Kharkiv. They held the master class for patients whose rehabilitation includes art therapy sessions.

“It is usually difficult for the military to talk about their trauma. They don’t know how to talk about it. Then drawings come to the rescue. Art therapy helps people express their feelings, thoughts and experiences on canvas. And even a few lines and strokes can reflect their trauma. And then it’s easier for them to realize it, accept it and move forward,” says Natalia Pereima, a psychologist and art therapist at the Mental Health Center of the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center.

The canvases created by the defenders, along with paintings by professional artists, will soon be presented at a charity exhibition in the capital of Great Britain. All the money raised in London from the sale of the paintings will be used to support the patients of the UNBROKEN Center.

“We are grateful to the Voznytsky Charitable Foundation and partners for organizing this wonderful art event for the invincible defenders,” added the UNBROKEN Center.
