
On 24 August, Ukraine’s Independence Day, the Historical and Memorial Museum of Yevhen Konovalets in the village of Zashkiv will host a meeting entitled «Konovalets invites you to a discussion about his public life in Zashkiv and Lviv in 1909–1914». The event is organised by the Lviv Historical Museum, of which this memorial institution is a structural subdivision.
Participants in the meeting will talk about the young years of Yevhen Konovalets, the formation of his civic convictions, and the role of Zashkiv and Lviv in shaping the future leader of the Ukrainian liberation movement. The interlocutor will be the historian Ivan Khoma, head of department at the National University «Lviv Polytechnic» and head of the Y. Konovalets Memorial Museum.
«What was Yevhen Konovalets like in his youth? How were his civic convictions formed? What role did Zashkiv and Lviv play in shaping the future leader of the Ukrainian liberation movement? We will discuss this together with Ivan Khoma… This will be a conversation about the young Konovalets, his milieu, views, public activity, and the events that proved important in shaping his life’s path,» noted the Lviv Historical Museum.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 12:00. The venue is the Historical and Memorial Museum of Yevhen Konovalets in Zashkiv. All those interested in the history of Ukraine, the figure of Konovalets, and the processes of Ukrainian state-building are invited to attend.
It is also reported that on 20 August two guided tours have already taken place at the Yevhen Konovalets Museum: one for cadets of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy and one for pupils of Secondary Comprehensive School No. 42 in the city of Lviv.
