Lesya Ukrainka Lviv Academic Drama Theater became the laureate of the 5th All-Ukrainian theater festival-award “GRA”.
The award “For the best performance at the intersection of theatrical genres, artistic synthesis and performative forms” was awarded to Dmytro Zahozhenko’s production “146 Stars Visible to the Unaided Eye”.
On December 9, an awarding ceremony for the laureates of the 5th “GRA” award festival, founded and organized by the National Union of Theater Actors of Ukraine, was held in the premises of the Kyiv Actor’s House.
This year, 134 stage projects of various genres from more than 20 cities of Ukraine applied for participation in the award. An expert council consisting of 10 art specialists selected 32 plays for the longlist. After watching these productions live, the experts formed a shortlist of 14 plays. In the final, 12 performances were shown live in four cities of Ukraine: Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne and Kyiv.
The main goal of the festival-award is to form and strengthen a single Ukrainian theater community, to identify the leading trends of Ukrainian theater. And this year, in the conditions of a full-scale war, “GRA” is not only a celebration of performances and their creators, it is also a testimony that, despite all the obstacles, the Ukrainian theater continues to develop and work fruitfully.
