The Day of the Unity of Ukraine was solemnly celebrated in Lviv

Today, January 22, on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of Sobornosti, the 104th anniversary of the proclamation of the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the People’s Republic of Ukraine, a number of events were held in Lviv Region. In particular, in the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos of the UGCC in Lviv, a revue of the winning song “In unity is the strength of the people” was held.

In particular, the event was attended by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi, representatives of the military and law enforcement agencies, the clergy, as well as residents and guests of the Lviv Oblast.

“Today we celebrate a great holiday – the holiday of the Ukrainian State Council, which was chosen by more than one generation of Ukrainians. They gave their lives with faith in God and in the independence of Ukraine. 104 years ago, the Act of unification of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the People’s Republic of Ukraine was signed, which became a prerequisite for the unification of the state and the creation of a new history of our country. Now hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are creating the latest history of Ukraine, courageously defending us from the enemy. We must not forget that unity is our strength, and also thank our Armed Forces every day for protection,” Maksym Kozytskyi said.

At the beginning of the event, they held an ecumenical prayer “For Ukraine and its defenders”, and also performed victory songs from the period of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1921, in particular, from the period of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the Sich Riflemen.

The solemn performance of the winning songs was provided by: the orchestra of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny, the National Academic Choir Chapel “Dudaryk”, the Lviv Municipal Choir “Homin”.

At the end of the event, 5-year-old Anna Bondaletova, whose parents are from Donetsk and Lviv, performed the well-known rebel song “Oh in the meadow red viburnum…”, and together they performed the spiritual hymn of Ukraine “God is Great and One”.
