A round table dedicated to the cooperation of communities in the Lviv and Rivne regions took place at the Lviv Regional Council.
The event brought together representatives of territorial communities from the two regions, who discussed common challenges, experiences, and opportunities for local self-government development. Leaders and representatives from the Rivne communities of Buhryn, Oleksandriia, Klesiv, Velykoomeliana, Bilokrynytsia, Malyn, Pryvilne, Shpaniv, Stepan, and Dubno came to Lviv. From Lviv, representatives from the Novorozdil, Pustomyty, Kulykiv, Krasne, Murovane, Velykomosti, Pidkamin, Mykolaiv, and Hlyniany communities participated in the meeting.
During the discussion, participants raised issues of community development under martial law, infrastructure restoration, investment attraction, international partnerships, and the role of associations in supporting local initiatives. “Lviv has much to share – from cross-border cooperation to successful practices in healthcare, education, and tourism. I believe our dialogue will become the foundation for new joint projects benefiting both regions,” said acting manager of the Lviv Regional Council, Yaroslav Hasak.
According to Vasyl Tuz, executive director of the “OTG Rivne Region” Association, the meeting laid the groundwork for creating horizontal links between communities: “We came to establish cooperation, exchange experiences, and initiate joint projects. We already have the first agreements – between the Krasne and Klesiv communities, as well as between the Mykolaiv and Oleksandriia communities,” he said.
Executive Director of the Regional Association of Local Councils “Councils of Lviv Region” Danylo Sorokovyi emphasized that this meeting laid the foundation for sustainable partnerships: “We strive to create a basis for interregional initiatives in the areas of development, security, social services, and communication. Such dialogues strengthen communities and help them more effectively use local self-government tools,” he noted.
As a result of the round table, Danylo Sorokovyi and Vasyl Tuz signed a memorandum of cooperation between the communities of the Lviv and Rivne regions. The next step will be a familiarization visit of a Lviv delegation to the Rivne region.
