The Health Minister of Norway, Jan Christian Vestre, and the Health Minister of Ukraine, Viktor Lyashko, are on a working visit to the Lviv region.
Along with the ministers, they visited the First Medical Association of Lviv, the Lviv Regional Hospital for War Veterans and Repressed named after Y. Lypa, and UNBROKEN Ukraine, to introduce the delegation to the route for evacuating patients abroad for further treatment and rehabilitation.
The Kingdom of Norway is actively involved in the medical evacuation program for Ukrainians who suffered due to the full-scale invasion by Russia, – Medevac Ukraine. Under this initiative, Ukrainians receive free treatment in foreign clinics.
Norway has provided six specialized buses for patient transportation, two of which have been received by the Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care. In addition, Norwegian partners organize air transportation of patients to 34 countries worldwide. Thanks to this support, more than 5700 medical evacuations have been carried out since the start of the full-scale war.
Separately, I would like to note that about 450 patients received highly specialized medical care directly in the healthcare facilities of the Kingdom of Norway.
I sincerely thank Jan Christian Vestre for today’s visit and all the medical assistance that Norway has provided to our state. I hope we will continue to deepen cooperation in the medical field.
Together 🇺🇦👍🇳🇴
