An updated procedure for holding mass events during the period of martial law has been introduced in the Lviv region. This was announced at a weekly briefing by the executive committee’s chief of staff Heorhii Tymchyshyn, who noted that the relevant decision had been adopted by the Defence Council of Lviv Region to strengthen the security of participants in public events.
The document stipulates that organisers of cultural, sporting, educational, religious, charitable and other mass events are obliged to obtain prior approval for holding them from the local self-government body. The application must be submitted no later than 10 working days before the planned date of the event.
In the written application, organisers must state the purpose of the event, the venue and time, the estimated number of participants, as well as information about the persons responsible. This information is required to ensure proper security arrangements and coordination of the services’ actions in the event of emergencies.
A mandatory condition for holding any mass event is the availability of a shelter capable of accommodating all participants. In the event that an air-raid alert is announced, the event must be stopped immediately and people must be evacuated in an orderly manner to a safe place.
