President urges partners to take political decision on transfer of Patriot missiles

The President of Ukraine stated that there are sufficient missiles in the world for Patriot air defence systems and called on international partners to take a political decision on transferring to Ukraine the necessary arms packages. According to him, both the United States of America and European countries clearly understand Ukraine’s needs.

The Head of State stressed that anti-ballistic missiles must be used to protect people, not kept in storage, as every day without such assistance gives Russia the opportunity to continue missile strikes and kill civilians.

The President also underlined that an adequate response to Russian attacks must consist not only of statements, but also of strengthened practical support for Ukraine – additional weaponry and increased sanctions pressure on Russia.

Separately, he focused on the need to introduce additional and effective sanctions against all legal entities and individuals who help Russian enterprises produce ballistic missiles, launchers and supply the necessary components. The President stressed that such restrictions must be imposed not only by Ukraine, but also by its partners, since gaps still remain in the jurisdictions of the G7 countries.

Another area where, according to the Head of State, pressure should be stepped up is the fuel sector. He noted that everything that helps Russia restore oil refining must be reliably halted. These issues are to be discussed at a global meeting with Ukrainian ambassadors, where concrete results are expected to be developed on strengthening sanctions and increasing military assistance to Ukraine.

The President thanked all partners who are already supporting Ukraine, as well as the military and rescuers who protect people’s lives every day.
