Land Scam in Lviv: A Threat to the City and Community

Land Scam at the Border of Lviv and Sokilnyky Threatens the City

Dealers from the State GeoCadastre and Sokilnyky Village Council have mishandled 158 hectares of land at the border of Lviv and Sokilnyky. The cost of this scheme results in over 4 billion hryvnias in losses to the state and community.

Infrastructure Issues and Consequences for the Community

Initially, the land was allocated for free to deputies and certain officials. Then, this territory was actively purchased by dealers who are now urgently trying to expand the borders of the neighboring Sokilnyky village to build five blocks of high-rise buildings near the Lviv airport. As a result, the population of Sokilnyky could increase from 8,000 to 50,000 residents. This effectively becomes a new district center — but one entirely lacking necessary infrastructure!

No schools, kindergartens, hospitals, or social facilities are included in the actual development plans. New residents will live in high-rises but will use all the amenities of Lviv. The entire burden of infrastructure will fall on our community: overloaded roads, engineering networks on the brink of technological accidents, traffic collapse — all of this will become an inevitable reality for Lviv if the decision is made.

Call to Action

I urge the deputies of the Lviv district council to immediately stop this disorder and not make any decisions until the situation is fully resolved. On behalf of the Lviv community, I appeal to state leadership and law enforcement agencies to intervene and halt the scam.

This territory should remain a green area intended for agricultural use or as a park. From an ecological perspective and common sense, there should be no development here!
