The President reported on the visit of Estonian Prime Minister Kaia Kallas to Ukraine, as well as the results of the visit to Zhytomyr.
In yesterday’s evening address to the Ukrainians, the President noted that during the meeting in Zhytomyr with the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaya Kallas, the greatest attention was paid to defense issues, in particular, decisions on weapons and ammunition.
“Estonia is among those whose aid to our defense is the fastest and largest, if you look at the ratio of the amount of aid to the country’s GDP. This applies to guns for our artillery, shells, and weapons for our anti-aircraft guns… Many aspects,” explained Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
Zhytomyr was chosen as a site for negotiations not by chance. It was in the Zhytomyr region that the reconstruction project was implemented – in the city of Ovruch, Zhytomyr region, the reconstruction of a kindergarten should be completed by June 1 – with the help of Estonia. This project will be further expanded. There are other reconstruction projects.
In addition, the President visited the Zhytomyr Polytechnic, where he talked with university students. The head of state thanked for energetic communication.
“This is what we are choosing now for all of Ukraine – so that all our children, all Ukrainian male and female students in every part of our country can feel free, enjoy freedom, get an education and realize themselves in life as they want. And it will be. Ukraine will protect its freedom,” Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasized.
The President also held a special coordination meeting in Zhytomyr with all those responsible for the region. Security, economic and social situation in the region, as well as educational issues were considered in detail.
“Decisions were made, in particular, regarding the restoration of the energy sector after the Russian strikes. And we are already preparing our energy for next winter.
There are also decisions regarding educational infrastructure – the Minister of Education and Science took part in the meeting today. Of course, we will help our regions, and Zhytomyr Oblast in particular, with school buses.
Particular attention was paid to the border. There was a report by the head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration and the head of the State Border Service. Defense, arrangement of the border, situation in general. Thank you to everyone who provides us with this strength of our state border,” the President added.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi also thanked the Luhansk and Kramatorsk border detachments for the struggle and protection of Ukraine – for stability in Bakhmut, the Lutsk border detachment – for the fight in the Avdiyiv direction, the Kherson and Berdyan border detachments – for the successful completion of tasks in the south of our state.
