18-Metre Piles Installed in Riasne for New Overpass

At the intersection of T. Shevchenko Street and O. Omelyan Kovch Street, active work is underway on a new overpass set to connect the Riasne neighbourhood with the city centre. Large-scale machinery is being utilised to install sheet piles measuring 18 metres in length. This is necessary to stabilise the incline, allowing subsequent construction phases to proceed.

Concrete slabs have already been laid on the construction site for machinery access. A crane and hydraulic hammer are currently in operation to secure the metal piles. The piles vary in length, ranging from 12 to 18 metres. The project also entails expanding the construction area from the Shevchenko Street side.

“Preparatory work began in March. The new overpass will feature three lanes, a cycle-pedestrian zone, and traffic lights,” said Mykola Vlasiuk, Director of Lvivavtodor Municipal Enterprise.

The project aims not only to improve traffic flow on the congested Shevchenko Street but also to create conditions for the reconstruction of the existing emergency bridge. All work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, with the total cost amounting to 106.8 million UAH. Funding is being provided through credit facilities, as the city’s budget is directed towards supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
