In 2025, more than 22 thousand gas leaks were detected in the Lviv region during the maintenance of intra-building gas supply systems
This was reported to the Holos Sokalshchyny by the Lviv branch of Gazmerezha.
Lviv branch of Gazmerezhi continues to carry out the planned maintenance of intra-building gas supply systems scheduled for 2025. In total, it is planned to carry out maintenance of intra-building gas supply systems (IBSG) for almost 140,000 consumers during the year.
As of the end of May, gas companies have already inspected the networks in 2,064 apartment buildings, checking more than 49,000 apartments. As a result of the maintenance, 22,704 gas leaks were detected and promptly repaired by specialists. On average, there were 11 leaks in each building inspected.
Such work is carried out for the safety of residents and to prevent emergencies. For buildings where the networks have been in operation for less than 25 years, maintenance is carried out every 5 years, and for gas pipelines that are older – every 3 years. Accordingly, the payment for maintenance is received only once every 3 or 5 years.
“In almost every building where we carry out maintenance, we find gas leaks. This indicates a real danger that is often underestimated by residents. Leaks are most often detected at the connections,” say employees of the maintenance department of Lviv branch of Gazmerezha.
As a reminder, condominiums or management companies are responsible for the condition of intra-building gas supply systems. They have the right to independently choose a maintenance organisation, provided that it has the appropriate permit. If such a service is not ordered, the work will be performed by the GDS Operator, i.e. Lviv branch of Gas Network.
We urge the heads of condominiums and building managers not to delay the ordering of maintenance. It is the safety of people that cannot be ignored.
