💧 Water is starting to return to several districts in Lviv, but it will not appear instantly in every home. Restoring the supply is a gradual and technically sensitive process.
🔄 Why the water won’t return all at once
After a major break in a 500 mm diameter main pipeline, it is technically impossible to restore water to all areas immediately. The network must be filled carefully to avoid:
- hydraulic shocks,
- air locks,
- new pipe bursts.
Lvivvodokanal teams are monitoring pressure sensors and restoring supply step by step to protect the system.
🏠 When will your home have water?
Some homes are already seeing water return, while others will have to wait a bit longer. Factors affecting this include:
- the building’s location in the network,
- the number of floors (higher floors take longer to fill),
- the operation of booster pump stations, which are managed by local housing services (OSBB or ZHEK).
❗Speeding up the process could damage the system and delay recovery further.
❄️ Working through the cold
Technicians worked overnight in –11°C temperatures, in water and without rest. Notably, Lvivvodokanal’s management — the director, chief engineer, and section heads — were on site with the crews, working side by side.
🙌 Residents across the city are expressing deep gratitude for the team’s hard work and dedication.
