According to the public indictment of the prosecutors of the Zolochiv district prosecutor’s office, the local resident was found guilty of intentional murder and rape (paragraph 10, part 2, article 115, part 5, article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The court sentenced him to 11 years of imprisonment.
Prosecutors proved in court that in August 2021, in one of the cities of Zolochiv district, the accused raped and then killed his acquaintance.
On that day, a man had a meeting with a woman on the territory of one of the castles, during which they drank alcoholic beverages together. However, later a conflict arose between them, during which the person involved took her by the head and hit her several times against a metal structure. The friend fell from the blow, after which the man dragged her to the fire pit and raped her.
However, the accused did not stop there, he took a strap from her bag, wrapped it around the victim’s neck and strangled her. After that, he threw the body into a pond and fled the scene.
The accused is currently in custody.
The court verdict becomes legally binding after the expiry of the appeal period.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Zolochiv district police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region.
