
Lviv Police Detain Teen for Robbery at a Public Transport Stop
In Lviv, police officers detained a minor on suspicion of robbing a man at a public transport stop. Reminder: under martial law conditions, the maximum penalties are provided for theft, robbery, assault, extortion, and for appropriation, embezzlement, or possession of property through abuse of office.
Incident Details
As law enforcement established, the incident occurred on April 7 around 8:45 PM at one of the public transport stops on Horodotska Street. The perpetrator knocked the victim, a Lviv resident, to the ground with a punch, took a wallet out of his pocket, and seized cash totaling more than 13,000 hryvnias, then fled.
Criminal police operatives, investigators, and officers of other services of Police Department No. 1 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2, as well as officers of the Criminal Analysis Department and Lviv Criminal Investigations Unit, were involved in solving the crime. Law enforcement conducted a series of operational search measures, studied video surveillance camera records from the ‘Safe Lviv’ system, determined the location of the perpetrator, and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Detention and Investigation
The identity of the detainee was established – a 15-year-old native of Zakarpattia, who temporarily resides in Lviv. He had previously been held criminally liable for robbery. Investigators of the territorial police department, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years. The pre-trial investigation continues, the court chose a preventive measure for the suspect – detention.
