For the crime committed, a 19-year-old resident of the city of Sheptytsky, who has previously been repeatedly brought to criminal responsibility, faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to seven years.

Details of the Incident

As established by law enforcement officers, on March 24, at approximately 8:20 PM, in the hallway of a multi-apartment building located on Naberezhna Street in the city of Sheptytsky, a visually familiar man shot a 24-year-old local resident with an unknown weapon during a conflict and then fled. Subsequently, medics diagnosed the victim with a \”torn wound of the left knee joint\”.

Investigation and Detention

Search and detention of the perpetrator involved operatives of the criminal police, investigators, and employees of other services of the Sheptytsky District Police Department. Through the conducted measures, law enforcement officers determined the whereabouts of the fugitive – a 19-year-old resident of the district center and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

It was also established that the shot was fired from a device designed to shoot rubber bullets.

Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytsky District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainee of the suspicion in committing a criminal offense under part 4 of Article 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and soon the court will decide on a preventive measure for the suspect.
