A 22-year-old resident of the Vinnytsia region was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months of imprisonment by the prosecutors of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office on the facts of intentional grievous bodily harm that caused the death of the victim and known false information about the preparation of an explosion (part 2, article 121, Part 1 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code).
In court, the prosecutors proved that the convict, while in the cell of the Lviv remand detention center, attacked a cellmate due to personal enmity, inflicting numerous blows on his head and torso.
As a result of his injuries, the victim died the next day.
After some time, the person involved, who was still held in the penal institution, called the emergency number of the fire service from his mobile phone and reported that the institution had been mined, knowing for a fact that the given information was false.
During the trial, the boy fully admitted his guilt.
Therefore, the Halytskyi District Court supported the position of the prosecutors, found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 9 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
When making the decision, the previous verdict of the Mykolaiv District Court of the Lviv Region regarding the same person was taken into account.
