The NGO Head Will Be Prosecuted for Fake Disability

Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have sent an indictment to court concerning the head of a non-governmental organization.

The investigation established that in November 2024, a 23-year-old man implemented an illegal scheme to receive undue benefit for influencing officials of the medical-social expert commission. He assured that with his assistance, a military conscript would be assigned a Group II disability, allowing avoidance of mobilization on ‘legal grounds’. He priced this service at 10,000 US dollars, which he later received from the ‘client’ during a meeting.

The accused is charged with receiving undue benefit for himself for influencing the decision of a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with extortion of such benefit (part 3 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation in the criminal case was conducted by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv region with operational support from the SSU Office in Lviv region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven legally and established by a court verdict.
