A traffic accident occurred late at night on January 2, around 12:30 AM, in the village of Rykhychi, Drohobych District, Lviv Region.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of a Jeep Cherokee, a 21-year-old resident of a nearby village, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and into a ditch.
As a result of the crash, a 24-year-old passenger from Drohobych sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators from the Drohobych District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This statute provides for a maximum penalty of up to three years of restricted freedom and revocation of driving privileges for the same period.
Law enforcement officials are continuing to establish all the details of the incident.
