The traffic accident happened today, January 20, around 1:20 p.m., at the intersection of Naukova and Simonenko streets in Lviv.
As previously determined by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Audi Q5 car, a 24-year-old Lviv resident, hit a man in his 50s who was crossing the road at a prohibited traffic light signal.
As a result of the accident, the pedestrian, whose identity is being established, was injured and died at the scene.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
