Police in Lviv region uncovered a case of animal cruelty on November 2 during routine monitoring of social media. They came across a video showing a young girl using markers to color a cat. The footage was filmed and posted online.
An immediate investigation was launched. Officers from Police Department No. 2 of the Zolochiv District Police identified the person who uploaded the video — a 30-year-old local resident and the child’s father.
Following the inquiry, the man was issued two administrative violation protocols:
-
under Part 1, Article 184 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine for failure to fulfill parental responsibilities. This offense carries a fine ranging from 50 to 100 tax-free minimum incomes;
 -
under Part 1, Article 89 for animal cruelty, which entails a fine of 200 to 300 tax-free minimum incomes.

All case materials have been submitted to the court for review. In the meantime, the cat has been voluntarily handed over to an animal protection organization, where it will remain until a legal decision is made
