Attempt to Cross the Border with a Bribe in Sambir Region
The Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office has sent charges to court against a 30-year-old local resident accused of attempting to bribe a border guard. The accused, a resident of a village in the Sambir district, sought to illegally enter Poland in December of last year.
During his attempt to leave the country, for which he did not have the necessary documents, the man offered the head of the border control inspection group the sum of $500 to avoid inspection and cross the border. His attempt failed as the inspector refused the bribe and reported it to the police.
Investigation Process
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by police officers of the Sambir District Department of the Main National Police of the region with operational support from the 7th border detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The case is now under consideration in court.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the accused has the right to defense and will be presumed innocent until proven guilty by a guilty verdict.
