Lviv district police officer detains offender suspected of shoplifting
Within one hour, the police established the location of the wanted man. The detainee faces up to ten years in prison for his crime.
It has been established that on 19 October at 14.20, the offender entered a store located on Shyroka Street in Lviv, took goods, including cosmetics, and fled without paying at the cash register. The store employees tried to detain the “buyer”, but failed, so they called the 102 operational line.
Criminal police operatives, investigators, a district police officer and other officers of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 were involved in solving the crime. Law enforcers studied the CCTV footage and within an hour the district police officer located the fugitive. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The offender was identified as a 34-year-old resident of Lviv. Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, served him a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
